Kristi Byers, Architect is a Southern California architecture and sustainability strategies firm located in Barrio Logan, San Diego. We specialize in design, sustainability and problem-solving for commercial, industrial, mixed-use and single-family home projects. Our projects include adaptive re-use and regeneration of urban buildings, industrial tenant improvements, discretionary approvals and single-family custom homes and green design certifications, such as LEED and Green Globes. We are a fast-paced, fun office that shifts between a casual office environment to ramping up our professional attire when attending important meetings, presenting to boards/commissions, etc. While we can be an intense and passionate, project-focused crew, we also love our afternoon coffee breaks and celebrating our wins.
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated architectural team member who has a 5-year minimum BArch and and who has 2 to 4 years of experience. A passion for sustainability and/or LEED AP is a plus.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist other architectural staff on schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration for various commercial, industrial and residential projects;
Build sketch-up models to support 3D exploration of project designs and detailing;
Create presentation drawings using the Adobe Suite;
Work with other architectural staff to create 2D, AutoCAD technical/construction documents;
Research building materials and assemblies;
Order samples and literature and work with product vendors;
Utilize great verbal and writing skills to communicate with our consultants, vendors and contractors via email and phone;
Complete exhibits required to satisfy credit and/or criteria requirements for LEED, Green Globes, WELL, etc.;
Harness Microsoft Office platform, such as Word and Excel to create sustainable certification tracking documents and notes;
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong evidence of design sensibility;
Excellent communication skills;
Professional degree in architecture;
2 to 4 years’ experience working at an architecture firm;
Friendly, outgoing, team-player personality;
Proficiency in Sketch-Up, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design, Microsoft Word and Excel;
Must be legally able to work in the US.
